Jio-Google smartphone might take a few more months to make its way to the masses. It will not launch in December as it is still in the testing phase and could take at least three months to arrive in the market. Launched in 2017, there are more than 100 million Jio users in India, many of whom are internet first-timers. The low-cost 5G Jio Android phones will attract more subscribers to Reliance plans from other telecom companies who are still offering 2G/3G networks on low-cost smartphones.  Also Read: Jio 5G Smartphone Price In India Less Than Rs 3000 Reliance’s virtual annual general meeting in July, Reliance CEO Mukesh Ambani said, “We believe we can design an entry-level 4G or even 5G smartphone for a fraction of its current cost. To power such a value-engineered smartphone, we also need an equally value-engineered operating system, and such an operating system must be designed from grounds-up.”  Also Read: Jio Orbic 5G Phone: Latest Jio Phone 2020 As per reports, Reliance is also working on its 5G network equipment and has asked the Department of Telecom to allocate its spectrum for testing before exporting these products. The government is yet to respond to the request of Reliance Jio. Currently, India does not have 5G services and the government has still not taken any step to allocate a spectrum to telecom operators for running field trials to promote domestic ecosystems for the next-generation technology.
